Ozzie Smith

I have about 900 unique Ozzie cards and about 2,200 total. That makes it unrealistic to post them all so I’m just going to be posting my favorites. I’ll also be posting some of my game used and favorite oddball Ozzie items from time to time as well.

Watching Ozzie’s acrobatics in the field cemented my Cardinals fandom in the 80s and also drove my dad nuts as my Little League coach because I spent a whole season diving at literally every ball hit to me at shortstop.

Ozzie Rookies

I’ve been collecting Ozzie now for over 30 years and I think his RC is still my favorite card ever. Finding a well centered copy of either his Topps or O-Pee-Chee is truly like hunting a needle in a haystack so I’m extremely happy with both of these. The Topps copy has been in my collection for over 30 years and I just had it graded recently.

1978 Family Fun Centers – This was THE Ozzie card that I could never acquire as a kid. It was a regional issue given away at Family Fun Centers and at, as best I can determine, one San Diego Padres game. These were ghosts for a kid in Oklahoma before the internet. I’d heard they existed but had never seen one. I managed to finally get my hands on one in 2021.
